Time is a measurement.
Everything in we can see, smell, taste, hear, touch, feel, and imagine have been given a time stamp. We may not know how time works or who determines the minutes we have, but the clock is always ticking.
Many people have attempted to understand time and many theories have been born. Which one exactly is the one that gives the true meaning of time?
Movies have been made to help us understand time. Some say it would be great to know how much time is left in our lives so we can live life the way we should. Others say it is best that we leave it as is so that we enjoy every moment that we have.
In this busy world, time is essence. Everything is measured by numbers. Our ancestors have created numbers in clocks so that we know when to wake and sleep. We have made time a tool to limit ourselves in certain activities.
At work, we most often are given a timeframe to finish off certain tasks. There are tables called a Gantt chart that shows us the period of time to which each project has to be completed. We, as employees have to adhere to the limitation set upon us so that we meet the deadline.
At home, we probably set a time table for each chore for everyone. Most of it would be organized as such in a week. There is a time to clear clutter, clean the bathroom, deal with laundry, and many more. It is always easier to split the tasks into smaller chunks so we are not overwhelmed.
Some would want to enjoy time out with friends, catching up on the things everyone is doing. We would chat and mingle. We do enjoy these moments and probably get motivated in some ways. Meeting new people always inspire us and make our lives more colourful.
Wherever life brings us, we should set a time for ourselves. Be alone in silence, and quiet and peace. The most successful people have their alone time in certain periods in a day or month or even year. This is when they remove all temptations from the outside world. This is spring cleaning of the mind. When the mind is clear, they will put on their thinking hats. Great ideas are born.
Many would say “there is no time to sit quietly”. The reasons given are lame; too much work, money matters to worry about, the kids is making noise, and many more. Perhaps we have forgotten that we need to sleep. If we all make it a point to sleep and wake a little earlier, we will have time to ourselves. Ten minutes a day is all we need. Over a period of time, we will feel the difference.
How do we define time?
Men have created tools to measure time and call them timeless pieces. In this modern date, they have been made to be more convenient incorporating time with many other measurements and functions and call them smart watches. As for the future, it would not be surprising to have these functions embedded under our skin.
I remember watching a movie whereby everyone has a clock embedded under their skin. The poor has very short timeframe which forces them to live life in the fastest way possible. Humans work for additional time. The rich however, has unlimited time. Some would have hundreds of years to do whatever they want and thus they enjoy life in the slowest possible manner. The only currency in that movie is time. The only bank they have is a time bank.
I remember watching a series where everyone is born with a time stamp. Location of everyone’s time stamp is different. Some people are born with the ability to see the time stamps but most are not. We can observe the stress the main actress has to go through when she found out that time is transferable. The set gets emotional but in the end shows us that life is way much better when we do not know the time we have left to live this earth.
Cherish the time we have!
The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.
