Your wish is my command!
Everyone of us hope to have a genie that would grant us three wishes, just like what Aladdin had. As easy as it seems, there is always a catch. Let us not forget one of the rules for the wishes, no wish for more wishes. So this genie that appears magically after gently rubbing the lamp will only grant its master three wishes, no more. Aladdin had to think his wishes through carefully so he will not waste every opportunity to make life better.
If we had a genie, what would we wish for?
Some of us may wish for riches. This is the norm. Everyone loves money. Who does not? If we had all the money in the world, what would we do with it? To buy that dream mansion? To buy the fastest handmade car? To buy the latest piece of technology? If we had all the money in the world, we can buy anything we want. There is always a catch.
People who are rich and remain rich for generations have ways to dealing with money. They know how to utilize money to make them more money. If they only knew how to spend money but never learn how to earn money, it will run out sooner than they think. This is what happens to people who won the lottery. They were broke. They strike a lottery and became rich overnight but they do not know how to manage money. They spend all the money they have buying unnecessary things that they thought was important, just to show their status. Not long after, they end up even more broke than before. They are just obsessed with spending money, nothing more than that.
Some of us may wish for wisdom. This is also the norm. Everyone wants to be smarter than everyone else. Who does not? If we had all the wisdom in the world, what would we do with it? Will we build a monastery for people to worship us? Will we build a school to teach the younger generation? Will we build an ark to house all living beings just in case the world is coming to an end? If we had all the wisdom in the world, nothing can ever challenge us. What is the catch?
Wisdom is something that can only be learnt, not taught. There have been many wise men since the first men. They are well worshipped even long after they have left the surface of the earth. Their noble teachings spread wide. No matter how well their teachings have been crafted for the good of humanity, we are all different individuals. We decipher words and phrases differently. Some may even deviate far from the true meaning. If we are the only one deviating, it probably do not make any difference but if we have a large group of followers deviating together with us, the impact is far greater than we can ever imagine.
Learning is a continuous process. Whatever that has been passed on through word of mouth over generations has a truth to it. But how much of it is true, we have to have our own thought for. No two beings are the same in any case. No two decades are the same in any era. We should scrutinize. We are given the gift of a brain to do so. Never to just follow blindly what others say. We can learn from the past to build a better future, not use the past to give ourselves excuses to remain stagnant.
My wish is for humans to live alongside with animals as a family.
Everyone is free to wish for anything. We do not have a genie to grant us wishes but we can always wish for something in hope that our wish will come true. Action speaks louder than words. What is an ambition without action? What is a wish without passion? If we want something to happen, we will have to do something about it. Nothing will ever happen if we are to just sit and ponder over and over. We have to wake up, get out there, see opportunities, take chances, and only then our wish may come true one day. It does not matter if we live to see it, so long as the engine has started and is kept running, we will arrive at the final destination, one way or the other.
Wish for something greater than just money and wisdom. Make your wish come true!
The poor may wish for wealth. The student may wish for good grades. The worker may wish for a raise. The entrepreneur may wish for profit. The lonely may wish for love. The ill may wish for health. The aged may wish for youth. The hungry may wish for food. The homeless may wish for a roof over their heads. What will innocent animals wish for? What will Mother Nature wish for?
We have the ability to make a difference.
It isn’t hard at all to make a wish. The difficulty lies in how to make what you wish for a reality.
