Everyone either watches or reads the news. It seems like the one most important thing to do, or so we thought.
Whenever there is a get together with family and friends, people often talk about what is happening around the world or what is happening around their lives. Some of it interesting while others are not so. It is great to catch up but is it necessary to be on top of the conversation all the time?
People love to complain about that politician that is not doing things right. Perhaps these people have not realized that all politicians are similar. They start up with a noble cause but somehow when they are on top of the food chain, things change. Their conditions change. Their responsibilities change. Nobody can avoid the fact that the environment that they are in changes their personality to the other end that nobody likes to see. Sometimes, it takes drastic measures to create the results that one wants. It is a give and take situation.
Perhaps we do not understand those politicians. Why are they corrupt? Why are they being nonsensical? When we first followed them, when we first voted for them, they are great people with great passion to bring up the country. They are great leaders and people believed in them. What has caused the change? Humans. We are nobody to comment on whether or not that particular politician is doing the right thing. He may be in a high position but he is not a control everyone person. He still has to go with the flow in order to make things happen for the better. What we see is only on the surface.
There is always two sides to a story, sometimes even more. We love to only look at one side of it. We are just humans. We choose to believe the side that sounds good to our ears.
Most often, the side of the story that catches our attention is the side that brings negative influence. We somehow love to know how bad the situation is.
What are the most viewed news?
Those news that make it to the headlines are always news that are outrageously bad and out of control. Take it now, for example, the headlines that flood the mainstream media is always on COVID-19. How the numbers are not receding? How more people are dying? How businesses are struggling? How economy is crumbling? So what can we do about this? We are no expert in creating vaccines. We are no expert in solving the problem. Why are we on top of this topic all day and night? Does anyone realize how bad an influence this is?
We are not living in a box. We are aware of this pandemic affecting everyone around the world. We know that, but we cannot do anything about that. Correct? So why are we fussing over and over that same thing when there is nothing we can do to change it? Unless you have found a cure, there is nothing to talk about anymore. Unless you do your due diligence to keep your family and yourself safe, there is nothing to worry about anymore.
Immersing in information does not change the world. Yes, your mind gets the information and then what? Do you plan to do something about it? What is the reason to keep all the information and not do anything about it?
Instead of getting negative inputs and keeping all the unnecessary information that you have no control over, why not choose to find and keep only those that you can do something about?
Positive affirmations. These are great information. They motivate you and makes you believe that you are the special one and that you can do anything and go anywhere your dream brings you. There is no limit to what our minds can store. There is no fast and hard rule to say that being positive all the time is strange. We are who we are and we become who we want to become. We live for ourselves.
Stop watching that mainstream news and start focusing on what makes a better you!
If people in the media cannot decide whether they are in the business of reporting news or manufacturing propaganda, it is all the more important that the public understand that difference, and choose their news sources accordingly.
Thomas Sowell, American economist and social theorist, 1930-present
